Major “Side Project”

This is the introduction of what I say to a long summer filled with writing and (cough) other projects. Whenever anyone has asked me, what do you do in your spare time? Well, here is the answer I usually give… I have Side Projects… and I don’t say anything else.

What are the “Side Projects?” Side Projects have always been on the back burner to school and I haven’t really told people online what my Side Projects are…until now.

It doesn’t seem a big deal when we have reality tv, and we get to hear and see ALMOST everything about anyone. Redneckognize any one?

This major Side Project that I’ve wanting to do is write a novel. Day 1, which was yesterday, made me realize, I really need to make a much more thorough outline of the story. So Day 2 is what I’m doing today.

I’ve started writing this story about three times about 10,000 words each trial run. Because A) The character is the complete opposite of me and B) Writing his voice was difficult.

He…the main character is a he?

Yes, we will get to that later!

Here is the story summarized: College Guy at Penn State, who has his own circles of Dante’s Inferno in the physical form of three girls, who give our College Guy “Hellish” experiences before he can reach his “Beatrice” (or even see her).

The point of the story is about redemption. I’m running with that for now.

Side note: I like pictures. I found this picture from Wiki.

It is Gustave Dore’s interpretation of Dante lost in the first Canto of the Inferno.Image

Spooky, right? Well, writing a whole novel for the first time kind-of feels that way.
